Tolled and Non-tolled Sections of Highways
A vignette is mandatory on all tolled sections of motorways and expressways marked with the letter “M” in Hungary, for example M1, M3, M5 and M7.
However, there are exceptions, such as sections of the M8, M31 motorway, sections of the M0 motorway between main roads 1 and 51, the south-west bypass of Pécs and the M9 bypass of Kaposvár, where a vignette is not required.
Hungarian highways require a valid vignette. Each vehicle type has specific vignette requirements and prices. Be aware of tolls, speed limits, and refueling options for smooth travel.
